Our Service
Rescued by Ruthenna! (RbR!) is an on call babysitting service, connecting families to the community. Our service specializes in individual family childcare serving infants to pre-teens. We pride ourselves on words like fun, firm, safe and values. They are qualities that enable us to care for children in a manner that facilitates love and respect. Our job is to reinforce what parents are developing in their children. Our goal is to allow parents the invaluable time they need to be people.
About the Owner
Ruthenna Porterfield is a native of North Charleston, SC. As a child who loved reading, her favorite book series was The Babysitters Club. It planted a seed for business and expanded her love for children. She graduated from the Universtiy of NC at Charlotte with degrees in Communications and Sociology. She has worked with the SC Teacher Cadets, the City of North Charleston Summer Program and as an After School Assistant at Ribet Academy in Los Angeles. WIth nearly 20 years of childcare experience, Ruthenna has gained vital knowledge in areas of education, discipline methods and safety.
However, Ruthenna is best known for the relationship she develops with children and families. From the first infant she cared for in her hometown, to families in NC and Los Angeles, her relationships transcend time and distance. She has attended dozens of birthday parties, athletic events and school functions.
